The new partnership between the Mario Negri Institute and Medilogy to promote appropriateness in hea
evaluation, promotion and monitoring of the appropriateness of drugs prescription.
The Mario Negri Institute, represented by the Laboratory of Quality Assessment of Geriatric Therapies and Services, will provide its expertise in the areas of
pharmaco-epidemiological research, assessment of prescriptions appropriateness, and monitoring of drugs’ safety.
Medilogy will contribute with its expertise in health ICT and its applications portfolio for Clinical Decision Support. In particular, Medilogy will provide access to the MEDIDSS, MEDIDRUG and MEDIRISK databases and applications. These platforms can be integrated into the Electronic Medical Records of hospitals and
primary care and tailored to meet the specific needs of research and data acquisition activities. They also can serve as a base to develop additional solutions
for both healthcare professionals and citizens.
The goal of this collaboration is to launch joint projects in different fields of the National Health Service, aiming to provide audit of the appropriateness of drugs
use and the iatrogenic risks, to both public and private authorities. Furthermore, the parties intend to cooperate in setting up training programs for healthcare
professionals, with the general objectives of risk mitigation and the improvement of the appropriateness of the drugs prescription process.
